2013 NFL Super Bowl Betting Odds & Predictions

by Scott on January 25, 2013

The 2013 NFL Super Bowl will be played at the Superdome in New Orleans next weekend and I wanted to get my picks up for the game nice and early.

This is the 1st time in history that two brothers will coach against each other in the Super Bowl and it’ll be an interesting dynamic to Super Bowl XLVII.

Super Bowl XLVII Point Spread & Over/Under Lines

  • Point Spread: Ravens +4 (-115) @ Bovada vs. 49ers -3.5 (-103) @ 5Dimes
  • Game Total: Over 47.5 (-107) @ 5Dimes vs. Under 48 (-115) @ Bovada

2013 NFL Superbowl Game Preview

The Baltimore Ravens are a perfect 3-0 ATS in the NFL Playoffs. The Ravens beat the Colts 24-9 in the wild card round, they then beat the Broncos 38-35 in the divisional round and last week they won the AFC Conference by beating the Patriots 28-13.

Joe Flacco who typically struggles in the playoffs has been playing great. Flacco has only completed 54.8% of his passes, but he has thrown for 853 yards, 8 TD’s and 0 INT’s. Flacco had a QB rating of 87.7 during the season, but is up to 114.7 in the playoffs.

I expect the Ravens to try and get the run game going early in this one with Ray Rice. The Ravens have rushed for 446 yards in the playoffs, but they only have 2 rushing TD’s (Both by Rice). Since adjusting the 0-line the Ravens have run the football better.

The 49ers have been great at stopping the run this season, but Baltimore has been getting it done in the playoffs against top 10 rushing defenses. If they keep the 49ers move laterally across the field Rice and Pierce should be able to find running holes.

The San Francisco 49ers are 2-0 ATS the spread and they’ve been favourites in both games. Kaepernick has shown that his run in the regular season wasn’t a fluke, as Kaepernick has completed 63.5% of his passes for 496 yards, 3 TD’s and 1 INT.

Kaepernick has also rushed the football 18 times for 202 yards and 2 TD’s. Frank Gore has had over double the number of carries (44) as Kaepernick, but Gore has only been able to rush for slightly more yardage (209). The two combined have 5 rushing TD’s.

The two players on offense that need to step-up for these teams are Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree. Both WR’s have had a great run in the playoffs. Boldin has 16 catches for 276 yards and 3 TD’s while Crabtree has 15 catches for 176 yards and 2 TD’s.

Both teams need their big TE to play well in this game as well. Vernon Davis on the 49ers has 6 catches for 150 yards and 1 TD in the playoffs this year while Dennis Pitta on the Ravens has had 10 receptions for 137 yards and 2 TD’s.

Super Bowl XLVII Best Bet

Baltimore has stepped up the tempo on defence ever since Ray Lewis came back to the line-up for his final playoff run. Lewis is now in the Super Bowl after the Ravens dominated the high-flying Patriots offence last weekend.

The over/under is tough because it has been set so high due to playoffs being high scoring this season. I actually think the under is going to hit in this game, but I’m not going to bet on the game total because the over/under has been too unpredictable.

I’ve covered the 2013 Super Bowl point spread and over/under, but there are lots of other types of bets. To learn more about the Super Bowl betting markets that I haven’t covered I recommend reading http://www.superbowl360.com/betting.php at SB360.

The NFL Superbowl is the time to wager on prop bets and other fun bets while watching the game with your friends. This should be an extremely close game and I’m glad we get to see the battle of the Harbaugh brothers in this year’s big game.
