Best Bets for Week 10 of the 2012 NFL Season

by Scott on November 11, 2012

I’m getting my picks up late this week, as I’ve been under the weather and haven’t done much at all. However, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss the week.

Last week was another good week for me and it helped bring my overall record up on the season, which we’re going to take a look at below quickly.

Last Week’s NFL Betting Recap

Last week was almost perfect. I went 2-0-1 with my push coming in the Colts vs. Dolphins game total. I won my two point spread bets and I also hit my teaser this past weekend, which means I made 3.8U last week. My profit on the season is now 10.66U and I’ll be looking to increase that to around 20-25U by the end of the season hopefully. Slow and steady wins the race!

2012 NFL Week 10 Predictions

  • Bet on Over 39.5 (-110) in Texans vs. Bears

This total has been dropping from the start of the week and I’m jumping on the line now at 39.5 points. These two defences are amongst the best in the NFL, but at the same time they both have great offences as well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see one of the defences or special teams score in this match-up either. The Bears defence seems to score most weeks this season.

With both teams great at rushing on the offence I expect the run game to be prevalent early on, which should open up the pass for both teams. Andre Johnson and Brandon Marshall have both put up solid games this past week and it wouldn’t surprise me if both WR’s went for 100+ receiving yards this weekend. This total is way too low and everyone is on it, take the O39.5 pts.

  • Bet on Under 47 (-110) in Broncos vs. Panthers

Normally I don’t bet two totals in a week, but this week I like two totals a lot. The total hasn’t moved much in this game, but I’m betting the under 47. The Panthers have been playing much better defensively the past few weeks and they’re actually one of the best teams at putting pressure on the QB. If they can pressure Manning this week they should keep the Broncos in check.

Cam Newton has been playing poor offensively as well this year and the Broncos should be able to stop them most of the game as long as they don’t let Newton run wild out of the pocket. The over in Carolina games has been popular all season for public bettors and this is another case where the total seems way too high. I expect a 24-21 score at the very worst.

  • Bet on the Seahawks -6 (-110) vs. Jets

The Seahawks surprised me last week by covering at home against the Vikings. This week they’re a -6 pt favourite and I expect them to come out and win this game by at least 2 TD’s. The Jets have been playing horribly lately and they were just blown out at home by the Dolphins. The Seahawks are well coached and play hard every single game, so I think they’ll come out and win.

One thing that worries me is that the Seahawks like to leave most games until the last minute and with a -6 pt spread this game needs to be out of reach by the 4th quarter. The Jets struggled against the rush, so if Seattle can build up a lead they should be able to run the football and take some of the pressure off of rookie Russell Wilson this weekend.

NFL Week 10 Teaser Bet

• Ravens -3 / Seahawks -1 / Bears +6

I won my teaser last week easily. This week I’m going with the Ravens and Seahawks as small favourites. I’m also betting on the Bears to keep it close at Soldiers Field against the Texans. That one scares me a bit, but I think Bears win SU at home.
