We’re still a few months until the NFL regular season begins, but now is the best time to analyze the futures markets to get the best odds available.
I’m going to begin covering the NFL again this year and for my first article I want to talk about the 2014 NFL Superbowl futures odds and my picks.
2014 NFL Superbowl Betting Lines
The Denver Broncos are the favourites to win the 2014 Super Bowl at the MetLife Stadium this upcoming season. The next three teams in the futures market that are close to the Broncos include the Patriots, 49’ers and Seahawks. I’m avoiding the early front runners though and betting the Packers.

Predictions to win the 2014 NFL Super Bowl
Last season the Green Bay Packers (11-5) won the NFC North despite dealing with lots of injuries. The team will be missing some familiar veterans this season including Charles Woodson, Jeff Saturday, Greg Jennings and Donald Driver.
Datone Jones was the Packers 1st round pick (#26) and he fills a hole on the defensive line. The team also signed two rookie RB’s to solidify the backfield in Eddie Lacy (Alabama) and Johnathan Franklin (UCLA). I expect big things from the run game this year.
Aaron Rodgers won’t have Jennings, but he missed a lot of last season due to injury anyways. Randall Cobb will look to improve upon an amazing 2012-13 campaign. Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Jermichael Finley will also be back on the offense.
Green Bay ranked #5 in points last season on offense (27.1 PPG). The run game only ranked #20 (106.4 RYPG), but if Franklin and Lacy can improve the Packers run game this offense should be able to dominate the scoreboard against most opponents.
If Nick Perry and the rest of the defense can stay healthy the Packers should definitely improve defensively. Green Bay struggled against the run last season, but Jones will help on the right side and if the linebackers are healthy as a unit they’ll improve.
Barring any injuries the Packers should win the division again and make the NFL Playoffs. If the Packers have a threatening rush attack in the playoffs and a healthy defense they’ll be able to compete with the stronger defensive teams like the 49’ers.
I’m also taking an early punt on the Green Bay Packers to play the Denver Broncos in the 2014 Super Bowl at 31.5/1 odds. I looked at the AFC and the conference seems a bit weak at the top this season and I think the Broncos are going to be a big force.
Denver improved their already deadly offense by signing Wes Welker this offseason. Denver has to be excited to get back on the field after losing in the playoffs in 2OT against Baltimore who eventually went on to win the Super Bowl last season.
Rookie RB Montee Ball should add some depth to the RB position as well. The defense lost Elvis Dumervil, but they still have lots of talent including Von Miller, Champ Bailey and newly signed Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie who will play opposite Bailey.
I don’t think the Broncos will be quite as good on defense as they were last season, but they won’t need to be because Denver should have the #1 offense in the NFL. Predicting the 2014 Super Bowl match-up is a crap shoot, but at these odds I like this bet.
Where to Bet on the 2014 Super Bowl
Most of you will know how popular sports betting online is, but you may not know where you should bet. The best sportsbook to bet on the Superbowl is 5Dimes, as they have great odds, accept bettors in the United States and always pay out clients.
